La Casa Azul - Frida Kahlo Museum

We'll be visiting Casa Azul, the iconic Frida Kahlo Museum in the heart of Coyoacán! This vibrant blue house, where Frida was born and later lived with Diego Rivera, offers an intimate glimpse into her life, art, and personal belongings. As we walk through the rooms filled with her paintings, clothing, and cherished artifacts, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of her creative genius and resilience. The museum also features beautiful gardens and a rich collection of pre-Hispanic and folk art. This visit is a must for anyone looking to connect with the legacy of one of Mexico’s most celebrated artists!

Day Trip to Puebla – A Cultural and Culinary Gem

As part of our Mexico City immersion retreat, we’ll take a day trip to Puebla, a city known for its stunning architecture, rich history, and world-famous cuisine. Just a short journey from Mexico City, Puebla offers a deeper dive into Mexico’s vibrant culture, making it the perfect addition to our retreat.

We’ll stroll through the beautifully preserved historic center, admiring the colorful talavera-tiled buildings and ornate churches, including the breathtaking Puebla Cathedral. The city’s bustling markets and lively plazas provide the perfect setting to practice Spanish in real-world interactions.

Of course, no visit to Puebla would be complete without indulging in its legendary food. We’ll savor authentic mole poblano, taste handmade chiles en nogada (when in season), and explore the local food scene that makes Puebla a UNESCO-recognized gastronomic destination.

This day trip offers an incredible opportunity to experience the charm, history, and flavors of one of Mexico’s most beloved cities—all while continuing to immerse yourself in the language and culture.

Teotihuacán

We'll be visiting Teotihuacán, one of the most awe-inspiring archaeological sites in Mexico! Known as the “City of the Gods,” Teotihuacán is home to the iconic Pyramid of the Sun and Pyramid of the Moon, where you can walk in the footsteps of an ancient civilization. As we explore the grand avenues, temples, and murals, you’ll get a glimpse into the rich history and mysteries of this pre-Hispanic metropolis. Whether you're climbing the pyramids for breathtaking views or learning about the fascinating culture that once thrived here, this visit will be an unforgettable experience!

Chapultepec Park and the National Museum of Anthropology

We'll be visiting Chapultepec Park and the National Museum of Anthropology, two of Mexico City's most iconic cultural and historical landmarks! Chapultepec Park, one of the largest urban parks in the world, is a green oasis filled with history, art, and stunning views. Within the park, we’ll explore the National Museum of Anthropology, home to Mexico’s most extensive collection of pre-Hispanic artifacts. From the legendary Aztec Sun Stone to the treasures of the Maya civilization, this museum offers a fascinating look into the rich and diverse cultures that shaped Mexico. This visit is perfect for history lovers, nature enthusiasts, and anyone looking to deepen their understanding of Mexico’s past and present!

Exploring the Murals of Mexico’s Great Muralists

As part of our Mexico City immersion retreat, we’ll take a guided tour of the breathtaking murals created by Mexico’s most influential muralists, including Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, and José Clemente Orozco. These monumental works of art tell the story of Mexico’s past, present, and future, weaving together themes of revolution, social justice, and national identity.

We’ll visit some of the city’s most iconic mural sites, including the Palacio Nacional, home to Rivera’s stunning Epic of the Mexican People; the Secretaría de Educación Pública, where entire courtyards are covered in vibrant historical scenes; and the Polyforum Siqueiros, an immersive, multi-dimensional space filled with dynamic, politically charged artwork. Along the way, we’ll discuss the impact of the Mexican Muralist movement and how these murals continue to shape Mexico’s cultural and artistic landscape today.

This tour offers a powerful way to engage with Mexico’s history and social movements through art while deepening your language skills as we discuss the murals’ stories and symbolism in Spanish.
